Are 4,000 substances, of this 100 toxins and 200 carcinogens in traditional cigarettes, better or worse than 5 chemical substances and 0 carcinogens found in e-cigarettes?
Dr Gilbert Ross, an American expert on public healthcare, is criticizing the restrictive regulations that the pharmaceutical lobby wants to apply to electronic cigarettes. This legislature will result in promoting … tobacco products.
“Use your mind and common sense to determine whether 4,000 substances, of this 100 toxins and 200 carcinogens in traditional cigarettes, are better or worse than 5 chemical substances and 0 carcinogens …”
– Dr Gilbert Ross urged the decision makers as related in a talk with eSmoking Association.
– Can we publish your appeal? – we asked.
– With Dr Ross’ permission we are directing this call to all officials and politicians in Poland who, by fighting against e-cigarettes, are engaging in a war with a threat that does not exist … – says Jerzy Jurczyński, eSmoking Association.
Healthcare experts are adamantly against passing acts that would make electronic cigarettes equal to traditional cigarettes. They believe that thanks to the popularization of research on e-cigarettes among tobacco addicts, a positive scenario becomes viable where the damage caused by smoking traditional cigarettes is reduced in the scale of the entire society. This is a massive potential for positive changes within public healthcare. Almost 6 million people die from smoking globally, of which over 650,000 in European Union.
Dr Gilbert Ross is the Director of the Division of Medicine and Public Health in the American Council on Science and Health, an author and co-author of around 100 publications on public health protection.
